What IS Holistic Nutrition?

Hello Everyone!

I am SO excited to be beginning this blogging adventure with you all! This is something that I have been wanting to do for awhile, and am finally getting around to it! If you have been checking out the rest of my site, you know that I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor with a serious passion for Holistic Health and Wellness.

Now, I’m sure some of you have never even HEARD of Holistic Nutrition. So what exactly IS it as a practice?

Holistic Nutrition looks at people on an individual level, treating each and every client as biochemically unique. The view is of people as a WHOLE, and focuses not only on what a person eats, but also the quality of the source of your food and holism of the consumer. A Holistic approach will take into account Lifestyle, Supplement and Psycho-Spiritual connections when designing a wellness plan. It is all about bringing the body to a state of BALANCE, or HOMEOSTASIS, by addressing systematic imbalances based off of nutritional symptoms and making adjustments to diet and lifestyle.

One of the most devastating components of modern society in my opinion, is malnutrition. Whether it is from poverty, societal norms (like opting for nutritionally empty and calorie dense foods), or simply not knowing that we are making poor nutritional choices (food labels can be CONFUSING!). Our digestive fire can easily sputter out when it is dealing with foods that are not supportive of healthy digestion. The more we realize the support our digestive system requires, and provide it, the more insults we can throw on that digestive fire without a sputter even being an issue! Let’s get that digestive bonfire brewing! What happens in your gut will influence how we think, feel and act, as well as how our immune system functions, how hormones balance, how our skin looks, as well as many many more connections!

What I love about Holistic Nutrition as a whole is that it emphasizes personal responsibility on part of the client, as well as a cooperative relationship between client and practitioner. What this means, is that I lead, I educate, but I can’t do it for you. We work together in a collaborative effort to work towards your wellness goals!
